The Granada was supposed to turn heads on the road

Granada buyers had no desire to settle for subtle paintwork their limousine from Cologne was supposed to draw attention. They simply owed this sentiment to the Age of Flower Power in which they lived in the early seventies. No wonder that the optics of the light yellow Granada were of great appeal and that the size of its body turned the vehicle into a shining beacon on the roads of Germany. For the longest time, the Granada of the first generation was Fords answer to the Opel Rekord. As such, it quickly distinguished itself as a luxury class limousine in its own right that made Ford highly competitive. Unveiled at the Geneva International Motor Show in 1972, the Granada quickly captivated attention thanks to its innovative design, which was anything but typical for Germany at the time. It was starkly different from the predecessor model series P7. Its characteristic curves were pleasing to the eyes and earned the first generation of the Granada a level of popularity that none of its successor models were ever to reach again. These merits have gained the Granada I a spot in WIKINGs chronology of classics.
