The Uranus a vehicle legend at German fire brigades

No fire brigade wanted to operate without the Uranus - as the roaring Deutz diesel engine dispatched the Herculean giant whenever a rescue mission required extra brawn. For decades, the crane truck from Ulm remained an indispensable member of the vehicle fleets operated by the large professional fire brigades in Germany. Then, in the eighties, it gradually became less common, was taken out of service more frequently and finally disappeared altogether. But, the mighty Magirus Uranus crane trucks would not have been equal to their preceding reputation of being exceptionally robust and dependable had they not re-emerged and, for all intents and purposes, begun a second life as a rescue vehicle. WIKING did not introduce the KW 15, which was in service for the fire brigade in Berlin in a similar version, until 1981. It was one of the last new models whose implementation was initiated by WIKING head Fritz Peltzer himself. WIKING fans and blue light collectors were just as excited back then as they are today. To make the model even more appealing, WIKING is now equipping it with characteristic deep-tread tyres, which make its overall look even more authentic.

Radiator grille guard imprinted red and Magirus logo painted silver on black-painted radiator grille. Silver-painted headlamps. Side ornamental trim on the bonnet and door handles painted silver.
