The cubic semi-trailer classic
This is how you experienced them on Germanys motorways back then: The cubic series of the Mercedes-Benz was given an azure blue coat at the factory and helped elevate tractor-trailer combinations from being the exception in the previous generation to becoming more widespread. The cubic series celebrated its début as early as 1963. Mercedes-Benz later adopted the new cubic cab for their entire range of lorries as functionality was the number one requirement at the time. The design language was dominated by a businesslike and no-nonsense approach, deliberately forgoing the rolling curves of the 1950s. Straight vertical outer panels provided for a hitherto unseen amount of space in the cab. Spacious windows and large windscreen wipers in conjunction with the standard windscreen washer system provided a clear view and gave the vehicle a modern utilitarian look.
