Flatbed truck (MB NG) "Spedition Schmidt"
The little brother of the New Generation from Mercedes-Benz
And now the little brother: The MB NG used to haul for the Schmidt forwarding company from Gevelsberg and gained a reputation of always delivering the bulky goods on time. With this miniaturised version of the cab-over-engine lorry of the seventies, WIKING is adding yet another short-distance companion to their familiar line of long-distance combinations.
It ranks among the companies with the richest tradition in the logistics sector: Ernst Schmidt established the forwarding company that bears his name in Gevelsberg in 1893. The first branches were opened in Hamburg and later in Bremen in 1953 and 1954, respectively.
The first export groupage services to Europe and the Middle East commenced in the mid-sixties. The company fleet had grown to nearly 70 vehicles as early as the nineteen eighties and also included the Büssing BS 16 and the MAN Pausbacke.
