Flygplan Pan American World Airways Douglas DC-3
The long life of this DC-3 began in 1943 as a C-53 Skytrooper with serial number 42-68789 in the service of the US Army Air Forces. After the end of the Second World War, she was converted into a commercial DC-3 and delivered to Pan American Airways. After a few years in service for Colombias Avianca, she was returned to Pan AM in 1963, which then used her as a feeder in Germany, mainly on the Stuttgart-Frankfurt route. N19912 was one of the very few of the venerable DC-3s to receive the new Pan Am livery with the famous globe logo, introduced in the late 1950s. In keeping with its base at Stuttgart at the time, it was given the nickname 's Clipperle little clipper in the local Swabian dialect as one of the smaller representatives sporting the classic Pan Am Clipper names.
