Description
In July 2021, the last F-16 Fighting Falcon of the Royal Netherlands Air Force left its traditional home base in Leeuwarden to be deployed from its new base in Volkel, while making way for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter.
One of the last F-16AMs sported a remarkable special paint scheme to mark the occasion.
An essential part of this livery features the Frisian dragon, the heraldic animal of the airbase, which takes up almost the entire tail fin.
322 Squadron is now the last operator of the agile multi-role fighter and is to operate the type until 2024.
