Flygplan Turkish Airlines Vickers Viscount 700 - TC-SES
During the 1950s, Turkish Airlines was searching for new medium-range aircraft to take advantage of technological advances entering commercial aviation. The Vickers Viscount, the first pressurized cabin turboprop aircraft in the world, was the best option. At that time, Middle East Airlines of Lebanon had cancelled their order with Vickers and Turkish Airlines seized this opportunity by placing an order for five aircraft from the British aircraft manufacturer. The Rolls-Royces of the Sky, as they were often called, were delivered in 1958. Just one year later, the exterior design of the aircraft was updated and the "pajama" livery with its red stripes on nose and tail still remembered today was applied.
