Flygplan Alaska Airlines Lockheed L-1649A Starliner
In reminiscence of the Alaska gold rush just before the end of the 19th century, Alaska Airlines launched their Golden Nugget Service in the early 1960s. Not only was a new red and gold livery introduced, but the interior appeared in shades of red and gold as well. Flight attendants were outfitted with period attire and wore long velvet skirts, wide hats and puffed-sleeve shirts. From 1962 to 1968, Alaska Airlines operated two L-1649s as part of its own network as well as for military charter tasks. This Starliner along with two others, were later purchased by Lufthansa to be restored to flying condition. That project was sadly stopped, N7316Cs future still undecided.
