Flygplan Lufthansa Lockheed L-1649A Super Star - delivery color scheme
On September 25, 1957, D-ALUB was delivered by Lockheed as the first of a total of six L-1649A Starliners to the post-war Lufthansa, newly formed just two years earlier. It was the only aircraft that did not receive the parabola design on its three rudders that were common at the time. Since the jet age was quickly approaching the first Boeing 707s were already in service in 1960 the "Super Star", as it was called by Lufthansa, was only briefly granted the position of long-haul flagship. As early as 1960, D-ALUB was converted into a freighter before she was ultimately sold in 1966.
