Flygplan Alaska Airlines Boeing 737-800 "Xáat Kwáani (Salmon People)" N559AS
Designed by Alaska Native artist Crystal Kaakeeyáa Rose Demientieff Worl, Xáat Kwáani means Salmon People in the Alaskan Tlingit language. The salmon design is a one-of-a-kind work that honors the salmon and the necessity of protecting its environment as well as Indigenous culture and language. The traditional artistic style dates back thousands of years and is common on the Northwest Coast of the North American continent. It took 117 gallons of paint to complete the livery on the real aircraft. Likewise it is a complex design to transfer onto a 1/500 scale model. The unusual Indigenous design will without doubt stand out in any model collection.
