Flygplan Malév Hungarian Airlines Ilyushin IL-62M
For two months, from August to September 1991, Hungary's Malév leased an Ilyushin IL-62M from the then Czechoslovak CSA, which even received its own Hungarian registration, HA-LIA, for this short period. Due to the delayed delivery of a Boeing 767, the airline was forced to sign an agreement with CSA for the use of its OK-JBJ-registered Ilyushin for 200 flight hours a total of ten flights between Budapest and Tokyo including flight and ground crew, in order to be able to honor contracts already negotiated with Japanese tour operators. In the end, only a mere three flights to Japan were operated. The IL-62 also remained the only four-engine jet in Malév's fleet therefore making this aircraft and its limited edition model release, a genuine rarity in many respects.
