Description
RF 8 Gaz 98 Aerosled, innehåller 2 skotrar och 2 figurer, plastbyggsats.
Vision Models:
The Russian military first became interested in powered sleds during the First World War as a fast method of transportation across deep snow and ice. The RF-8-Gaz-98 was developed in the early 1940's by the Gorky Automobile Factory (GAZ) using an M-1 auto engine and metal aero propeller. The sled was of wooden construction with driver's position at the rear and machine gunner at the front. Four short skits were used and steering was achieved by tilting the sled on the suspension springs. The sled was used by Combat Aerosled Battalions of the Red Army from autumn 1941 until the end of the war. The RF-8 was superior to previous designs because of its light weight and metal propeller; however, it was at its best on frozen lakes and rivers. Armed with a 7.62mm light machine gun, it was devastating against enemy ski patrols and transport vehicles.
