Henschel bonnet truck even made it across the Alps
The appreciation the lorries from Kassel enjoyed extended far beyond the Alps and allowed the Henschel HS 140 to win over the Swiss confederates as well. Those digging into the history of the Swiss forwarding company Friderici will find a long chapter on the loyalty the company used to show towards the Henschel lorry makers from Kassel. Back in the sixties and seventies, the company used to trust their long distance operations almost exclusively to bonnet trucks and cabovers bearing the Henschel star and, later, to Hanomag Henschel as well. One example is Friderici, who used the bonnet tractor unit for handling a variety of heavy-duty jobs. Crafted from fresh new WIKING moulds, the Henschel HS 140 from 1950 makes it easy for the beholder to take a shine to it. With the Henschel HS 140, the lorry makers from Kassel put their first horsepower flagship of the post-war ear on the road. The 1:87 model WIKING is now unveiling constitutes a completely new development with a design that stayed extremely close to the historical documents. The drivers cab is distinguished by the typical bulbous doors. The elaborate engravings of rear window and roof fans and those found on radiator grille and bonnet are well proportioned. The radiator grille naturally includes the typical Henschel star and has even been inserted as a separate piece. The design is rounded out by the Henschel lettering and the elevated bonnet buckles.
