When the steel flatbed replaced the wood beds at Volvo
The steel flatbed was considered a breakthrough accomplishment in the 1960s - and so was the cab-over generation of the Volvo F88. WIKING merged both on a typical triple-axle chassis. Meanwhile, the traditional model makers also decked out this modern classic lorry in the company colours of the Swedish manufacturer. Accommodating the requests of many fans of the brand, WIKING keeps creating miniatures of the Swedish lorry brand that turn out to be contemporary models with a charm that is unique and unmistakable. And for good reason: Since the 1950s, Sweden had been a solid export market for the traditional model makers, who managed to devise a product with this vehicle that offered model and railway fans in Sweden another true-to-scale model. The fact that the F88 now rolls into the selection as a three-axle chassis shaped in new moulds demonstrates yet again how WIKING has perfected the process of combining old with new moulds.
