Flatbed semi-trailer truck (Henschel) - luminous red
When pipe transports hit the road in the Ruhr region
What a majestic transport! The Henschel pulls three colossal shiny pipes - not exactly an easy task back then for the front-drive vehicle from Kassel. The Henschel represents the era of front-drive vehicles that started in the mid-1950s. With the T at the end of the model designation, the truck manufacturer from Kassel abbreviated, without further ado, the hood-less construction of the Tramausführung (tram design). While allowing for effortless travel on Germany's motorways, the limited horse power forced the driver to quickly shift down to crawl speed when coming up on slopes.
