MB 600 - wine red
The 600 united presidents and show stars
The world of show business in Europe and on the coast of California had an almost insatiable appetite for everything unusual. The prototype of the wine red Mercedes-Benz 600 with its mighty powerful look and signature fiery red interior was sure to turn heads. If you choose to buy a top-of-the-line limousine, you might as well pick one that stands out. WIKING has replicated the 600 of the sixties with such intricate details as numerous fine prints of ornamental strips and window frames. The chrome-silver wheel wells also look more impressive than ever before on this grand 1:87 limousine. The series 100 of the large-size original was presented at the IAA in Frankfurt in September of 1963, where it introduced the automotive world to a watershed design. After all, the 600 succeeded the highly acclaimed Adenauer-Benz, the 300, which for many years chauffeured state guests around in Germany's then nascent federal capital of Bonn. But, cars of such renown often share a common fate: The Mercedes-Benz 600 was sold a measly 2,677 times, turning out to be a loss-maker for the car company from Stuttgart. Launched in 1966, the Mercedes-Benz 600 remained a part of WIKINGs portfolio until 1979 before its moulds were relegated to the companys historical archive.
