Flygplan Iberia Lockheed L-1049G Super Constellation EC-AIO Niña
Starting in the summer of 1954, Iberia added destinations to the United States to its route network. To operate on these new routes, the Spanish airlines introduced three Super Constellations which were named after the three ships with which Columbus set off to his first westward voyage the Santa Maria, the Pinta, and last but not least the EC-AIO registered ''Niña''. The first flight Madrid New York took place on August 3rd, the same day Columbus left the Spanish port at Palos de la Frontera for the New World.
