Slowly but steadily, the last remaining McDonnell-Douglas tri-jets are nearing retirement, currently only seeing operation with cargo carriers. Between 1990 and 2004, Delta had operated 17 MD-11s on long-distance routes to the Asia-Pacific region as well as Western Europe. N806DE entered service wearing Deltas classic widget-livery. Our limited-edition release in 1/500 scale follows suit and sports this color scheme, which remains popular among aviation enthusiasts still today. In collaboration with the artists of "Hands of God", Eurowings and Borussia Dortmund, Herpa offers the "Fanairbus" in no less than five variants: as a die-cast metal model in the 1/500 (item no. 536981) and 1/400 scales (item no. 562829), as a highly-detailed and fully-assembled collectors model in 1/200 (item no. 572750), and as part of the popular Snap-Fit series in 1/200 as well (item no. 613927), but also in the 1/100 scale as the largest version of the five (item no. 613934).
