Flygplan Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Superjet 100 97001
In 2001, Sukhoi's civil aircraft division began development of a new regional jet to replace the aging Soviet-era Tupolev TU-134 and Yakovlev Yak-42. Finally, on May 19, 2008, the prototype with the factory serial number 97001 took off on its maiden flight. Our first 1/200 scale die-cast model of the Superjet appears in Sukhois corporate livery with the eye-catching blue gradients on its fuselage. The program was plagued by technical problems at the start-up of series production, which delayed deliveries to mostly Russian airline customers. The difficulties with the first exports to Mexico and Western Europe, partly due to a lack of a maintenance network, as well as the sanctions imposed as a result of Russia's war of aggression on Ukraine did their part to further complicate matters. So far, just over 200 units have been delivered.
