Flygplan Pan Am Boeing 727-100
Boeings only three-engine aircraft ever built entered service on February 1, 1964. To this day, the 727 with its distinctive T-shaped tail and the trio of rear-mounted engines remains one of the most popular and recognizable aircraft. Throughout 2024, Herpa will be commemorating the 727s 60th anniversary with a small range of new models in classic designs. The icon of commercial aviation, Pan American World Airways, popularly simply known as Pan Am, was one of the largest operators of the 727. Several were used on its European network with hubs in London, Frankfurt and (West) Berlin from 1966 such as this limited edition release of N340PA, named "Clipper Düsendroschke". Düsendroschke can loosely be translated as a jet-propelled (horse) carriage.
