Flygplan Alpha Jet 01 Prototype
A little over 50 years ago, on October 26, 1973, the Alpha Jet took off on its maiden flight. Developed in German-French cooperation between Dassault-Breguet and Dornier, the twin-engine aircraft was characterized by high reliability, excellent flight characteristics and maneuverability that still causes excitement at air shows today. Whether as a training aircraft, as it was used for decades in France and Belgium, among other nations example, or as a light fighter-bomber, in which role it saw use in three wings of the German Air Force from 1979 onwards, the Alpha Jet combined both tasks in a compact format. The first prototype, which underwent extensive testing from 1973 onwards, is now released in its unusual livery with the insignia of both partner countries. This aircraft is preserved and on display at the Dornier Museum in Friedrichshafen, on the shores of Lake Constance in Southern Germany.
