Opel Rekord P1 - green beige with black roof
The panoramic Rekord turned every trip into an experience
The P stood for panorama and added the perfect moniker to the Rekord P1, which Opel unveiled in Rüsselsheim in August of 1957. The vehicles body came across as modern at first glance while the frequently ordered two-tone paintwork furnished the model with even greater elegance. The large windscreen, but also the unusually wide glass surface on the rear, called attention to a then ground-breaking Opel design. The design was rounded out by the distinctively wavy bend of the ornamental strip in front of the rear axle. The car thus bore a striking resemblance to the American Buick. The record P1 turned out to be a tremendous seller for Opel - both at home and abroad. Opel sold roughly one million units of this model series between 1957 and 1962.
